Motor Vehicle Accidents

As cannabis becomes a more prevalent option for the treatment of accident-related injuries, more victims of motor vehicle accidents find themselves considering cannabis therapy as a treatment option.

Karthia Medical Group Inc. is a leader in the industry when it comes to assisting motor vehicle accident patients in receiving medical cannabis treatment that is funded through their accident benefits insurers. As such, we receive referrals from many reputable firms for clients that are seeking medical cannabis treatment.  These referrals have open accident benefits files, and often times open tort files which means that these patients will be seeking coverage for their medical cannabis for the rest of their lives through settlement.

More information on the referral process

When a referral is received the individual will be contacted and sent online intake forms in order to become a patient with us. If the patient is not yet out of the MIG category, we are unable to provide an OCF-18 until they are.

Once the completed forms are returned with all required supporting medical documentation, the patient is booked in for a consultation with our doctor or the nurse practitioner. We ask that the medical documentation be provided as soon after the referral as possible so that the patient is not delayed in being assessed for medical cannabis therapy. If you wish to send it along with the referral please make sure that all recent Insurer’s Examinations are included along with other documentation that may be relevant (eg. a list of prescription medications, current treatment being received) that will assist us in providing a full assessment of the patient’s needs.

After the patient has been authorized for medical cannabis, an OCF-18 will be completed and submitted to their insurer to ask for coverage of their medical cannabis and related services including their assessment, their education, and educational materials developed and provided by the clinic.

As most cases take some time to settle, we at Karthia understand the importance of the continuation of care and support for patients. We will be with you every step of the way through approval or denial with our full suite of services.
